Halbgewachs, Cecile Marie

November 2, 2023

Cecile Marie Halbgewachs

Cecile Marie Halbgewachs peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 with her daughters by her side.

Cecile was born April 15, 1939 and was predeceased by her husband Alvey Halbgewachs and her parents Joseph and Mary Donovel. She is survived by two daughters Carol Egert (Shayne) of Regina, SK and Karen Campion (Kevin) of Calgary, AB; three cherished grandchildren Dylan, Ethan, and Naomi; one special grand dog Toby. Cecile also leaves to cherish her memory numerous sisters and brothers-in-law along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and close friends.

Cecile started her working career in the banking industry and continued as a bookkeeper working alongside her husband Alvey in the service industry for over 40 years. She grew up on the farm near Southey, SK. Cecile enjoyed family traditions such as Sunday night suppers and baking items for special occasions such as a red velvet cake for birthdays and sweet bread at Easter time. There was always a place for someone to stay and extra potatoes in the pot. Cecile was a very social person and over the years she curled, attended Rider games, enjoyed playing cards, selling honey at markets with her husband, shopping trips to Minot, gardening, and canning. Cecile loved to volunteer for her daughters’ school activities and trips and other community events. She had a soft spot for her grand dog Toby and loved to spoil him with treats. She took pride in her grandchildren and loved sharing stories about their accomplishments.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who worked on Unit 2-5 at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina for your care, compassion and support; you always took the extra time to comfort Cecile.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish, 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina, SK with Rev. Carlos Jimenez Celebrant. Private family interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers and other gifts the family respectfully asks that anyone who wishes may make donations in Cecile’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of SK or a charity of your choice.

Our heartfelt condolences to Carol, Karen and families. We knew Cecile first through Alvey (relative of ours from Dysart) and then when we moved to Southey, we were neighbours with Grandma Mary Donovel. Alvey and Cecil would come out to help Grandma with yard work and to visit and we spend many hours cross fence visiting. May she rest in peace and her memory be eternal.
