Hensrud, Leslie Dawn

March 13, 2023

Leslie Dawn Hensrud

Leslie Dawn Hensrud left this world peacefully on March 13, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Leslie was a beautiful, caring, free spirit with the most generous heart filled with love.

Leslie leaves behind four daughters Makenzie (Robbie), Stevie (Kieran), Abbey (Branden) and Sunny (Luke) who will continue to honour her legacy by living their lives by leading with kindness.

Leslie found beauty everywhere she went. She took this beauty and made amazing art with it. She felt the most at peace when painting, doing pottery, making jewelry or simply sitting in her beautiful backyard with her dogs.

Leslie lived her life selflessly and was famous for offering up the items she owned to anyone that complimented them. She loved fostering dogs and would often take in the older rescues that were difficult to rehome.

Her legacy will live on in her beautiful artwork. Leslie loved being an independent artist and sharing that beauty with the world. We ask you honour her by supporting independent artists and businesses. Some local businesses that were particularly close to Leslie's heart were Magpies Kitchen, Saltine Baking Company, AND Ceramics Studio and The Flower Shop on Hill Avenue.

If you have any fond memories of Leslie, the family asks you to email your memories to Lhensrudmemories@gmail.com.

A Private Ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Leslie to CC RezQs Regina.

Leslie gave so much by sharing her beautiful gifts. To be one of her circle made life lovelier. I have faith her love will envelope each of you, Kenzie, Stevie, Abbey, Sunny, during this difficult time. We ache for you.

Leslie was pure sunshine. She was my favourite of all my mom’s friends. I grew up with touches of Leslie in my home — a picture or painting here, a hand painted bench there, each piece beautiful just like she was. My mom always told me, “Leslie is a true artist, she can make anything beautiful!” This was the truth! For my wedding shower, Leslie created the most beautiful flower crowns for me and my bridesmaids. A special gift, from a special lady, that I will cherish forever.

Hi Dale & Family My deepest condolences to you and the rest of the family and her girls. I haven't seen Leslie your Dads passing, but your Aunt Diane (my cousin) and I keep in close touch weekly and she kept me updated on your sister. I had hoped to reconnect sooner but have had my own medical hold ups the last 7 years and couldn't travel much. Regardless she gave me a good recipe for that Norwegian staple - Lefsa which I attempt to make on occasion. I have many family pictures that I'm working on of that family from the 1950's that I would like to pass on at some point. I hope to connect this summer if I can get to Regina. I'm sure I would have enjoyed her company and am truly sorry I won't be able to now. Too many have gone before - too early. Again so sorry Terry

Aunty Leslie had an uncanny ability of taking the ordinary and turning it into something beautiful. Whether it was a blank canvas, a person, a piece of wood or metal, dirt and seeds, most of all though she could turn any house into a home. Not only aesthetically, but also because she filled it with love. She was my favourite Aunt growing up and I loved spending time in her home. She always made it fun and exciting. I’ll never forget camping in her backyard, swimming and running around endlessly. Her free spirit was contagious and I admired that in her. My fondest memories though are the ones of watching her spend time with my kids. Seeing her make them feel special the same way she did me. She will be missed in this world, but there is no doubt she’s watching her girls from above with Rosie in her lap.

It doesn’t take long to find a special person, Leslie was just that. I will always remember her kindness, her talent for art, her patience and good sense of humour. Makenzie, Stevie, Abbey, and Sunny , I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mamma. Please know I will be there for you, my doors are always open.

I didn’t know her well but I employed 2 of her daughters for a period of time. Leslie would come in to visit them. She was the kindest & sweetest person. I admired her artistic talents. She donated her artwork to my business. So saddened to hear this news. My deepest condolences to Abbey, Sunny, Kenzie and Stevie.

Hey, I’m really sorry to hear about this. I went to school with Stevie and was in her grade, and I remember in 4th grade when Leslie came to our class and took us through water colour painting. It happened I think a few times and it has stuck with me. Thank you.
