Patricia Joan Simmermon, age 88, passed away on December 17, 2021, in the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Patricia (Pat) was born December 1932 in Edmonton, Alberta, and was the eldest of two children of the late Jesse Joy Kerr (Collinson) and Walter Moore Kerr Jr., both of Edmonton. With her father’s Irish heritage, Pat was an exceedingly tenacious person who loved life, and who was looking forward to her upcoming 89th birthday, but who succumbed to infection as a complication of vascular disease. Blessed with the gift of numerous friends, Pat shared many interests and was a welcoming member of her communities. In Air Force tradition, Pat moved with her husband and children to locations throughout Canada and Europe when her husband was stationed at various bases and military institutions. After settling in Ottawa, she worked many years as a travel agent, leading tours to different parts of the world, combining her love of travel and adventure, and sharing her passion for art. Later, like her father and brother, Pat became a wonderful artist whose fine works grace the homes of friends, family and clients.
Pat is mourned by her daughters Lisa Simmermon (Brian Johnson) of Regina, Laura Simmermon (late Winston Gomes) and Cheryl Simmermon both of Ottawa; grandsons Hans Johnson (Regina) and Matthew Gomes (Caroline Binder) of Edinburgh, Scotland, and their daughter, Pat’s great-granddaughter, Leilani Binder-Gomes. In addition, she leaves behind her sister-in-law Bonnie Kerr, nieces and nephews, and many loving friends across Canada and Europe. She was preceded by her son-in-law Winston Gomes, brother Robert Moore Kerr, partner Bertram (Bert) Gerald Smith, and her former husband, Donald Lloyd Simmermon. The family extends its thanks to the caring staff at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, Regina.
Pat’s remains were interred with a graveside service at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa October 27, 2022. For those who so wish, donations may be made in memory of Pat to the Canadian Lung Association. Please join the family in an online Zoom Funeral and Celebration of Life planned for Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Regina time (1:00 p.m. in Ottawa), and officiated by Pat’s long-time friend, the Reverend Jim Collins. Was very sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. Pat was always such an enthusiastic person while serving on the Family council @ Longfields Manor in Barrhaven in the mid 2000’s - she was the driving force behind getting the gardens cleaned up revived - @ Longfields Manor and was always willing to help out or she’d be able to recommend the right person(s) to help with organizing something ! She was a joy to have on any committee - she was indeed a very active individual even in her senior years . Keeping her family in prayers and again never forget Pat’s endearing spirit !
We are always available and on call 24/7.
